Ashleigh Environmental (IRL) is a spin out of Ashleigh Farms and formed to coordinate the project and commercialise biowave system. Ashleigh Farms is a 3rd generation family pig farm based in West Waterford, close to the south coast of Ireland. Like many Irish farms in the 1960’s it reared just 2 outdoor sows, but through the vision and dedication of James and Eleanor McGrath it has developed into a prosperous family business. Today it is home to over 13000 pigs and a dedicated work force. It is among the top performing farms in Europe, producing up to 35 pigs per sow per year, which equates to approx. 40,000 animals produced per year. Ashleigh Farms places a very high emphasis on animal health and welfare, production output and staff development. It produces its own breeding stock, transports its own pigs and manufactures and delivers its own feed.
Methanogen (UK) - Offers a one stop shop for the supply of Anaerobic Digester technology from the process design stage to on- site construction of installations. Methanogen have more than 35 years of experience in the Anaerobic Digestion industry. Methanogen will supply the Anaerobic Digester technology from the process design stage to on-site construction of installations and its integration with the microwave technology and commissioning. Methanogen will also support the farm-scale operational trials and commercialisation of the technology.
Sairem (FR) - During the last 30 years SAIREM has become a major actor in the world of microwave and radio-frequency applications. Sairem has now more than 5000 references in more than 50 countries. SAIREM will participate in the design, development and manufacturing of the microwave plasma reactor. In addition, they will participate in the integration of the microwave plasma reactor with the control system and AD system.
Liverpool John Moores University (UK) - The RF and Microwave group with the BEST Research Institute at LJMU is a multidisciplinary research centre with an international reputation. It specialises in the use of electromagnetic radiation in industrial manufacturing and medicine where it has been responsible for the development and implementation of a number of “world-first” or “state-of-the art” solutions and was awarded a grade 5 in the Research Assessment Exercise in 2008. LJMU’s role in this project is to overcome the technical barriers associated with development of a microwave frequency tuner in the range of 2.45GHz to 10GHz, determination of optimal salient parameters for each sensor system in order to develop an automated microwave plasma monitoring system and development of a dynamic model to estimate the behaviour of microwave plasma system when implemented at industrial level.
